DESCRIPTION

The NORSOK standards are developed by the Norwegian petroleum industry to ensure adequate safety, value adding and cost effectiveness for the industry’s development and operation. Furthermore, NORSOK standards were as far as possible intended to replace oil company specifications and serve as references for the authority’s regulations.

The course will include practical examples, introduce the engineers to possible design approaches and touch upon good design philosophies, weight and cost saving combined with application of FEM analysis.

The following relevant NORSOK standards for design and documentation covering steel structures on the Norwegian continental shelf will be presented:
• NORSOK N-001 : Integrity of offshore structures
• NORSOK N-003 : Actions and action effects
• NORSOK N-004 : Design of steel structures
Relations to other standards like ISO and Eurocode etc. will also be covered in the course.

Who are attending?
This course is tailor-made for those who wish to understand their structure and make a proper design according to the NORSOK standards. Engineers who wish to find the answer to what responsibilities and possibilities the designer have should attend.
The course will be presented in English.

•Illustration on how different engineering choices give different design. A plated structure will be analysed and understood with focus on showing effective use of steel saving weight and cost.
